Metallic materials (Section I)
Refers at all aspects of science and engineering of metals, their alloys, blends, and intermetallic compounds, both at bulk and particulate level. Contributions setting up all types of relationships between (but not limited to) aspects such as the synthesis, manufacturing, processing, fabrication, forming, structure, properties, performance, and applications of metallic materials are welcomed.
Biomaterials (Section II)
Covers all aspects regarding the design, obtaining, characterization, applications, and performance of biomaterials. Contributions related, but not limited to the chemical, physical, biological, and mechanical behavior of biomaterials in vivo or in vitro conditions, at all length scales are welcomed.
Ceramics, polymers and composite materials (Section III)
Dedicated to research on all aspects of synthesis, processing, structure-properties relations, applications, durability, life cycle assessment and recycling issues for ceramic, polymeric and composite materials. Contributions about novel additives for polymeric and composite materials, characterization of composites matrix-filler interfaces, or analysis techniques specifically dedicated to this type of materials are also welcomed.
Surface engineering (Section IV)
Obtaining and characterization of surfaces and interfaces with (but not limited to) mechanical, tribological, sensing, catalytic, optical, electrochemical, ionic, electrical, and magnetic properties. Another aspect of interest is represented by surface and interface engineering techniques (including deposition of coatings and thin-films) aiming the modification and improvement of the surface properties of materials (such as corrosion resistance, improved functional performance). Contributions on materials characterization with specific surface analytical techniques are also welcomed.
Nanomaterials (Section V)
Organic, inorganic or hybrid nanomaterials and nanostructures, with respect to their design, obtaining, science and applications. Contributions dealing with modeling of nanomaterials properties, characterization of their mesoscopic properties or their interactions with other types of materials are also welcomed.
Welding and safety engineering (Section VI)
Science and technology of welding, joining and other related processes (brazing, soldering, cutting, cladding, thermal spraying, reconditioning of materials), such as (but not limited to) microstructure-property relationships, welding and joining of advanced materials and of dissimilar materials. Contributions on all aspects about the hazards and risks that certain materials or engineering processes pose to public health are also welcomed.
Additive manufacturing (Section VII)
Contributions related to all aspects of innovative technologies, processes, materials, and methods in the field of additive manufacturing.
Engineering: Education and Entrepreneurship (Section VIII)
Aspects related to engineering education and the importance of this field; contributions on all aspects regarding the reconsideration of engineering studies by associating purely technical aspects with elements of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship. Contributions related to all aspects of innovative technologies, processes, materials, and methods in the field of additive manufacturing.
